The vineyard
Spreads over 7 hectares
Domaine Coulombaud is located in the town of Méounes-lès-Montrieux in the Var department in the heart of green Provence.
The place benefits from a very particular continental climate. Indeed, perched at an altitude of 400 meters, the cool nights follow the often very hot days in summer.
With the approach of the harvest, these thermal amplitudes are significant and favorable to the cultivation of the grape varieties that we have chosen to plant there, Syrah, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon for the black grapes and Rolle, Ugni blanc for the white grapes. The ripening of the berries is thus slower, more progressive and therefore more complete when the season is right.
We never push the vine beyond its capacity in terms of yield because the idea of having a plant suffer to exploit it outrageously seems to us to be absurd and far from a vision of sustainability. No living thing on this earth flourishes under duress.
We prefer to speak of exchange of good processes. We take great care in the aeration of our soils, and the quality of their amendment. We make sure to maintain a certain favorable surrounding flora and fauna essential to their balance. These devices are not imposed but made available to the vine.
